Getting help
One person answers this mailbox, so plain detail helps: what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. Your app version is at the bottom of Settings.
The three most common reasons people write in
Back up before you switch phones
Export All from the Presets tab, plus a JSON backup of your log from Settings. Both re-import into a fresh install.
Restore a purchase
Settings, then Restore Purchase, signed in with the Apple Account you bought it on. It is a one-time purchase tied to that account.
Program format
The full import and export reference, with a validator, lives on the Programs page.
Questions
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no login and no password, because there is no server to hold one. Open the app and start training.
Where is my data kept?
On your device. Workouts, presets and your exercise library live on the iPhone and the paired Apple Watch, and finished workouts go to Apple Health if you grant permission. Nothing is sent to the developer.
The practical consequence: if you delete the app, the data goes with it. Export a backup first.
How do I move to a new phone?
An encrypted iPhone backup (iCloud or Finder) carries TabSet's data across, so a normal device transfer keeps everything. To be certain, take a backup by hand before you switch:
- Open the Presets tab, tap the + menu in the top right, and choose
Export All. Save
tabset-presets.jsonto iCloud Drive. - Open Settings in the app and export your training log as CSV or a JSON backup. Save it to iCloud Drive too.
- On the new phone, install TabSet, sign in with the same Apple Account, and tap Restore Purchase.
- Import the JSON backup, then import
tabset-presets.jsonfrom the same + menu.
Presets are appended on import rather than merged, so import into a fresh install, or delete the built-in days first if you do not want duplicates.
I paid already. How do I restore it?
Sign in with the same Apple Account you bought it on, open Settings in the app, and tap Restore Purchase. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account, not to a device, so it restores on every iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch signed in to that account.
If it does not come back, check that you are signed in with the buying account under iOS Settings, then get in touch and include the App Store receipt.
What does the trial include?
Everything. 14 days with nothing held back and nothing to cancel. If you do not buy, the app stops at the end of it and your data stays on the device, so buying later picks up exactly where you left off.
Is there a subscription?
No, and there will not be one. TabSet is a single purchase of 9.99 in your local currency, set by the App Store for your region. One purchase unlocks the whole app on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
The watch app is not showing my presets
Presets and exercises sync from iPhone to the watch automatically, but the transfer needs both apps to be reachable. Open TabSet on the iPhone, then open it on the watch with the two devices near each other and unlocked.
If it stays stale, force-quit both, then reopen the iPhone app first. As a last resort, unpair and re-pair the watch app from the Watch app on iPhone.
My workout did not appear in Fitness or close my rings
TabSet writes finished workouts to Apple Health, which needs your permission. Open the iOS Settings app, go to Health then Data Access & Devices, pick TabSet, and make sure writing workouts is allowed. A workout that ended before permission was granted will not be backfilled.
Can I edit a set after I logged it?
Yes. Open the session in History on iPhone and edit the logged sets there. Weight changes feed back into the working weight that comes up next session.
Why is there no plate calculator on this exercise?
The plate breakdown only appears when the exercise has a bar weight set, because a plate count is meaningless on a dumbbell, a cable stack or a machine. Open the exercise in the Library and set its bar weight, usually 20 kg or 45 lb.
Can I use pounds instead of kilograms?
Yes. Open Settings in the app and switch the unit to lbs. Weights you have already logged keep their number rather than being converted, so switch mid-training log with that in mind.
Does it run on iPad? Is there an Android version?
TabSet runs on iPad as well as iPhone, and the one purchase covers both. The iPad is a comfortable place to build routines and read your history, though a workout itself still runs on the Apple Watch.
There is no Android version and none is planned. The watch app is the point of TabSet, and it is an Apple Watch app.
Still stuck
